Information

Healthcare’s interoperability challenge has persisted for decades, despite waves of policy, regulation, and technical standards like HL7, FHIR, and TEFCA. Fragmented vendor ecosystems, misaligned incentives, and regulatory complexity have left organizations struggling to achieve seamless data exchange—impacting operational efficiency and the cost of care. Yet, a new era is emerging: Artificial Intelligence, and specifically large language models (LLMs), are set to break down data silos, enabling seamless information sharing that streamlines care coordination across organizations and empowers providers to deliver more connected, patient-centered care.

In this interactive session, moderated by the American Hospital Association, you’ll hear from provider, payer, technology leaders, and your peers through real time polling, to discuss recent survey findings and share candid perspectives from their own organizations. The conversation will address:

- The Realities of Interoperability: Why, after decades of effort, does interoperability remain elusive?
- AI as a Game Changer: Is AI and the momentum of LLMs a game-changer for processing unstructured data or more of a risk?
- Leadership and Change Management: How can healthcare leaders build cross-functional teams and drive clinician adoption?
- A Vision for the Future: What does an interoperable health system look like and how can payers, providers, vendors, and innovators accelerate progress?
