Information

This session is part of the Interoperability & HIE Preconference Forum and additional registration is required.

Too often, patients have to make a choice between sharing the wrong information or too much information, which erodes patient trust and in some cases, can cause patient harm. As more data is shared across the healthcare ecosystem, how do we ensure that patients do not have to choose between getting care and protecting their privacy? This session examines how data segmentation strategies can fundamentally transform the patient-provider relationship by giving patients granular control over their health information sharing. Participants will explore the critical role of data segmentation in enabling patients to make informed decisions about which portions of their health records are shared, with whom, and under what circumstances. The session covers practical implementation approaches for segmentation technologies, regulatory considerations, including patient consent frameworks, and the business case for investing in patient-controlled data sharing. Attendees will discover how empowering patients with segmentation choices not only builds trust and engagement but also supports compliance with privacy regulations while enabling more personalized and effective care delivery.
