Information

Join us for an exclusive one-day healthcare data interoperability forum featuring industry-leading experts and timely, relevant content. This forum aims to equip participants with a deeper understanding of the strategic, technical, and regulatory aspects of healthcare data interoperability, enhancing their ability to navigate the complexities of this critical field.

As one of the first interoperability events of 2025, the HIMSS25 Interoperability and HIE Forum offers a prime opportunity to understand the priorities set by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC) and potentially a new Presidential Administration. We will explore the complexities of standards and healthcare data exchange, including a robust discussion of critical privacy and data usage issues. Additionally, we will examine the progress of the TEFCA program and its interaction with other national interoperability networks and frameworks. This forum is essential for those looking to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving healthcare IT landscape.

  • Understand the current priorities of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC) and how these may shift with changes in the Presidential Administration, focusing on their implications for data interoperability in healthcare.

  • Explore the complexities of healthcare data standards and exchange protocols, gaining insight into how they facilitate or hinder effective data interoperability.

  • Engage in discussions about privacy concerns and data usage in healthcare, evaluating the balance between data sharing needs and privacy protections.

  • Examine the progress and challenges of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) and its role in enhancing nationwide data sharing among healthcare organizations.

  • Analyze the interaction between TEFCA and other national and regional interoperability networks and frameworks, identifying opportunities for alignment and areas of potential conflict.

  • Prepare for future developments in healthcare IT interoperability, strategizing ways to adapt to and leverage these changes for improved health data exchange.
