Enhancing Oversight: Leveraging Medicaid Performance Insights

CMS is advancing a broader strategy to strengthen transparency and accountability across Medicaid programs. This strategy includes improving data sharing and collaboration with states, increasing public transparency through tool such as the 2025 Medicaid Managed Care Dashboard, and using advanced analytics and machine learning models to support oversight and monitoring. This session will discuss how these efforts collectively help CMS and states gain better visibility into potential program risks. By building on standardized Medicaid data from all 54 states and territories, CMS aims to support more consistent, comparable insights while complementing existing state and federal oversight processes. Aligned with the HIMSS 2026 focus on connected intelligence and equitable digital transformation, the panel will share practical lessons learned, current challenges, and near-term opportunities for states and managed care plans to use shared data, public reporting, and analytic insights to inform decision-making and drive measurable improvement.
