(EHL Poster) Evidence-Informed Policy Analysis: Standardizing AI in Shared Decision-Making
Information
This policy analysis examines gaps in strategies for the integration of ethical, transparent, and patient-centered artificial intelligence–supported shared decision-making (AI-SDM) in healthcare. Three policy alternatives, mandated AI reasoning with SDM documentation, voluntary AI standards, and third-party auditing, are evaluated using practical and evaluative criteria. Literature shows AI-SDM enhances patient trust, engagement, equity, and accountability, highlighting the need for thoughtful implementation. Future directions should prioritize stakeholder engagement, practical strategies, and ongoing evaluation to ensure integration of ethical, standardized, auditable, and patient-centered AI to support high-quality decision-making.
