Information

Washington State is poised to bring forward many modern, innovative approaches to bring true liquidity to health data for our residents. Our State HIE, HCP OneHealthPort announced this year the launch of the Washington Alliance for Health Data Exchange (WAHDX) — a collaborative statewide initiative to securely connect health, social, and research data in support of better care and stronger communities. This health data utility (HDU) enables partners across the state—including providers, community-based organizations, payers, researchers, the public, and policymakers—to securely exchange and use data for public benefit. This framework can support key initiatives from the state Medicaid and Public Health agencies in terms of providing patient’s access to their own claims and clinical data, modernizing chronic disease surveillance and leveraging the national data exchange ecosystem. This session will highlight how this new framework will leverage FHIR, SMART Health Cards/Links, individual access services, and quality measures to drive reuse, innovation and a greater ability to steward data to improve the health and wellbeing of all Washingtonians.
