Digital Health Transformation: Connecting Clinical and Public Health Systems
Information
Digital health transformation relies on successful interoperability between clinical and public health systems. The American Immunization Registry Association (AIRA) drives national progress through its Measurement and Improvement (M&I) Initiative and Immunization Integration Program (IIP), demonstrating how collaborative, standards-based testing strengthens data quality and advances public health outcomes. This session highlights AIRA's coordinated approach to advancing interoperability, showcasing how HIMSS and AIRA amplify achievements of immunization information systems (IIS), health IT vendors, and partners transforming data exchange. The IIP—a partnership between CDC, AIRA, HIMSS, and Drummond—tests and recognizes EHRs with advanced immunization capabilities supporting data exchange with public health IIS. The M&I Initiative provides a community-driven framework to measure and validate IIS across multiple content areas, supporting continuous modernization. AIRA has expanded its scope to include vendor product testing, assessing products and modules to inform design enhancements and help jurisdictions make strategic decisions.
