Information

This session provides a technical deep dive into the Leading Edge Acceleration Projects (LEAP) work advancing Individual Access Services (IAS) under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). Building on early project activities, panelists will examine how IAS can be operationalized at scale by addressing real-world technical, workflow, and implementation challenges.

Panelists from ASTP, MEDITECH and HIMSS will discuss LEAP project goals and share insights from stakeholder interviews and early technical exploration. The discussion will review IAS technical workflows, policy/technical alignment, and use case examples that highlight common breakdowns in patient access and potential approaches to bridge those gaps.

ASTP and Sequoia Project representatives will provide perspective on how TEFCA is evolving to support IAS with an emphasis on collaboration across governance, standards, and implementation communities. The panel will also explore how lessons learned from real-world exchange environments—such as large-scale data sharing and consumer access use cases—can inform scalable IAS models.

Audience engagement will be incorporated throughout the session, providing an opportunity to validate assumptions, surface additional challenges, and inform next phases of the LEAP work.

This session is intended for implementers, architects, developers, and interoperability leaders seeking a deeper understanding of IAS implementation under TEFCA.
