From Silos to Synergy: Revolutionizing Training in Clinical Education and Informatics
Information
This session focuses on a collaborative training approach and partnership between clinical informatics and clinical education to increase adoption and standardization of clinical skills and electronic healthcare record (EHR) efficiencies. The collaboration between clinical education and clinical informatics is essential to bridge the gap between technology and bedside practice. As healthcare systems grow more reliant on EHRs, it becomes increasingly important to align training with clinical workflows to ensure that technology supports—not hinders—patient care. The joint efforts of clinical educators and informatics teams led to improved clinician onboarding, more consistent documentation practices and enhanced confidence in navigating EHR tools. Collaborative initiatives, such as real-time rounding, integrated education in clinical environments and codeveloped learning materials, resulted in faster adoption of best practices and measurable efficiency gains. When clinical education and clinical informatics work together, clinician support becomes more impactful, workflows become more efficient and patient care improves. This partnership ensures that education is not only clinically relevant but also technically aligned with evolving EHR capabilities.
